Pilgrim Team Enjoy a 1 Day Blacksmithing Experience at The Quinnell School of Blacksmithing

On Saturday, 6th April some members of the Pilgrim team were lucky enough to be invited to enjoy a day at The Quinnell School of Blacksmithing in Leatherhead to experience one of their excellent courses.

Situated just off the M25 The Quinnell School of Blacksmithing and the Fire and Iron Gallery offered us an insight into the world of blacksmithing and the opportunity to get "hands on" really shouldn't be missed.

This 1 day course allowed us to experience a day alongside the wonderful team of husband and wife, Tom and Nikki Quinnell, Tom's mum Lucy and the excellent teacher Giles.

If you are looking for an activity that you can do as a team, on your own or in a pair you should really not look any further.

We began the day at 9am, getting stuck straight into familiarising ourselves with our individual stations; how to control our furnance, learning about the tools of the trade and becoming comfortable around the anvil. Safety is key and everyone looked fabulous in their aprons and goggles.

Giles began with a demonstration of how to make a leaf keyring and then it was over to us. We graduated through the day making the keyring, a coat hook and finally a bottle opener which we all enjoyed using at the end of the day.

Please do take a look at both the The Quinnell School of Blacksmithing website and that of the The Fire and Iron Gallery to find out more.

Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team over at the forge for their generosity and we look forward to welcoming you to the brewery very soon.
