This year’s SIBA Cask Ale Awards took place last Thursday, 17th July at Windsor and Eton Brewery and whilst our Head Brewer, John (JTB) was representing Pilgrim at another off-site event our Assistant Brewer, Harry was there to keep everyone updated.
Having entered three ales into three distinct categories – the maximum you are allowed – each one received a place!
We are incredibly proud of our brewery team who work hard to brew the best beers possible, and this is most definitely the recognition that they deserve.
With the addition of keg choices to our range alongside the growth of our business and moves into hospitality it is often easy to forget that cask ale is where it all began back in 1982 and our boys work tirelessly to recreate our heritage ales brew after brew after brew.
So, these awards are testament to that dedication.
Our flagship ale, Progress, continues to add accolades to its name this time receiving Silver in the Cask British Bitter (up to 4.4%) category.
The excellent Saracen stout received a Bronze in the Cask British Dark Beers (4.5% to 6.4%) category.
However, the big news was Talisman! The first time it has been entered into the awards, and it received Gold in the Cask British Best Bitter (4.55 to 6.4%) category.
Well done John and Harry we are immensely proud of you both!
